Speaking Out...

"Truth resides in every human heart, and one has to search for it there, and to be guided by truth as one sees it. But no one has a right to coerce others to act according to his own view of the truth." -Mahatma Gandhi

Often, we only see our own myopic view of the 'truth' and label any thing that falls outside of that tunnel vision we've developed as 'false' or, in more recent terms, 'fake'. When was the last time you took a few moments to listen, actually listen to someone else's viewpoint - without interrupting, without interjecting 'I, I think, I disagree, I heard, I feel, they said, XXX News told me, statistics indicate...' - just listened? Sometimes in life, all WE want, and in using WE, I am incorporating the greater inclusive term of the global WE (no segregation of gender, race, color, religion, nationality, age, sexual orientation, or any other societal separation determining factor).

You see, WE all have a basic need to be wanted, to be accepted, to be a part of something outside of us an when a person - any one - simply takes an interest in what WE have to say or think - without judgement, without retort, without comparison, without diminishment of whatever WE are expressing, something remarkable happens - WE become HEARD. It doesn't matter if the other person agrees or even understands. What matters is they listened. Try it. Be a Listener. HEAR another person and let another HEAR you. If everyone did that, trust that the TRUTH will reveal itself one person at a time without coercion or distortion.

In the end, I don't need you to agree with me or even understand my Truth. I will LISTEN to YOU and RESPECT You and Your Truth. I just need you to HEAR Me and My Truth as well as RESPECT that OUR Truths can co-exist. With that, WE are partners, not threats, in the Bearers of Truth.

Ma Salaama.
